FROM THE MINISTER
The Red Boiling Springs congregation is a sound, faithful congregation of the Lord’s church (Matthew 16:18). Located in a small community in Macon County and nestled among the rolling hills of northern middle Tennessee, not far from Nashville, our congregation enjoys being located in an area of incredible beauty. Briskly flowing creeks, wood-covered bridges, open pasture lands, dense forests, and lovely people abound. Having been so blessed, our congregation is committed to reaching out around the world in providing book, chapter, & and verse Bible teaching with the aim of honoring God and leading precious souls to obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As people pass by our meeting place or hear a reference made to the Lord’s Church in a conversation somewhere, perhaps they may wonder who we are. In a day of rising suspicions, some may wonder if we are a cult. Others may wonder if we are a Pentecostal church. Some see our name and wonder if we are a Catholic church. Others confuse us with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), etc. Before we can tell others who we really are, we must first know ourselves. “Who are we?” Some years ago I penned my answer to that question. I hope it will be helpful to you . . . and others.
Simply stated, we are Christians! We are an imperfect people serving a perfect Lord. We are a human part of a Divine Institution—the church. We are a going church for the coming Christ. Ideally, we are upon this earth going to Heaven. We are endeavoring to speak where the Bible speaks and to be silent where the Bible is silent. We call Bible things by Bible names and do Bible things in Bible ways. We profess in faith—unity; in opinions—liberty; and in all things—love. We have no book but the Bible, no creed but Christ, no plea but the Gospel, and no name but the Divine. Our creed is Christ alone. Our pattern of life is the New Testament. Our service is for all mankind. We can’t do everything, but we can do something. We have something unique. We have God’s will, God’s promises, God’s help, and God’s blessings. We have a mission—God’s Mission—to evangelize, to edify, and to be benevolent. We are restoring New Testament Christianity in our century just as it was given in the 1st century. We are looking for “a city which has foundations, whose builder and Maker is God” (Hebrews 11:10). As we follow the One Who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life . . .” (John 16:6), let us make His work our own, and His mission our ministry. “The churches of Christ salute you” (Romans 16:16).
As we receive emails and contacts from all across the United States and from many countries around the world, we are made increasingly aware of the great responsibility, with its accompanying challenge, to touch lives with truth from God’s Word. We are pleased to be active in our Lord’s work in Nazareth, Israel and the Galilee as well as in other places. We are fortunate to be able to reach out and serve the needs of our own community and geographic area. Spiritually led and overseen by faithful elders and served by diligently-working deacons, the Red Boiling Springs congregation is fortunate to be able to retain both its faithfulness and unity in a day when many congregations are not. Blessed with visitors in our Bible classes and worship services, on behalf of our elders and the entire congregation, permit me to extend a warm and gracious invitation to you to visit with us should your travel plans bring you to the middle Tennessee area. We would indeed be honored to have you present with us. Please contact us in advance for directions.
May God richly bless you as you endeavor to learn more about His Word and to obey His precious Will.
In His service, Donnie S. Barnes, Minister firstname.lastname@example.org
